Chapter 5: Bacanora Tasting

We will be trying Bacanoras the pride of the north.

Typically a Mezcal, but with its own local Appellation.

The Plant in this case is an Angustifolia, but the subspecies is Pacifica.

Not a very common drink, but give it a try, you might like it.

  1. Wow! Love the podcast and the analysis on Bacanora which as mentioned is this very unique “mezcal” from Sonora Northwest of México. You chose already very good ambassadors of bacanora bur from 2018 until now other brands have also matured or being launched in a strong way: Bacanora 42, Pascola, Aguamiel, Fariseos, Santo Cuviso, Sortillón, Cantiles, 1915, Soaki and many more!!! Cheers from the Bastardos del Bacanora (as you can find us on Instagram)

    1. Thank you for your kind feedback! As we are located many miles away from México in Berlin, we are sure that we cannot keep track with all that is happening with Agave spirits right now. Our show tries to focus on the culture and the brands that we mention are usually tasted in that context. But if someone sends us a bottle we would taste it on the show of course :-). That said, it could be very interesting to do an episode about the latest developments in the Bacanora denomination. If you have any advice on people we could interview, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
